Today we had our third FLL meeting. Our first activity was to make pizza as a team. This was a team-building exercise as well as a lesson on making decisions together as a team. It took us about 30 minutes to decide what to put on the pizzas, and another half-hour to make the pizzas. We all learned a lot and had a fun time making and eating the pizzas (especially eating!).
We discussed our findings on biomedical engineering over lunch. We were previously assigned to read some articles on the topic, and to be prepared to talk about them to the group. At this time, we instigated the process of passing an item (such as a Sharpie) to whoever wants to talk as to prevent multiple people talking at once.
Next we split up, Andrew, Ian, James, and Josh went downstairs to build the chassis, while David and Andy stayed upstairs to create our schedule. We made significant progress in the robot, all we need now is add an arm and structural support. Significant work was also made on the team schedule, and so we regrouped upstairs to end the meeting.
Overall, we got a lot done, considering that it still is two weeks until the Challenge Release (Sept. 3). Our next meeting will be on the 26th.
